44 Days Left

Today marks 33 weeks and 6 days into my pregnancy. Still so much to be done. I started washing sheets, clothes, burp blankets and anything Jackson will be touching. I have finished purchasing the oh not so pleasant stuff I will need after he arrives for my recovery. We have put together all the furniture, now just need to start putting pictures on the walls of the nursery. When it is finally done, I will post pictures.

As far as the gestational diabetes, that is going ok. I still complain about it at times and get frustrated. My fingers are numb from having to prick myself 4 times a day, but all in all it is going good. I had a doctors appointment yesterday and my doctor looked at my food log. Carbs definitely make my numbers spike more (oh how i love carbs) but that I seem to be controlling it well by eating everything I am supposed to be and in moderation. The constant exercising is helping as well. Last Saturday night we went to a friends house and they made enchiladas and rice, I didnt care about my numbers and ate as much as I wanted too. My doctor said that was ok to splurge every now and then. And boy I did splurge, I almost needed to be rolled out of the house. I have had a VERY smooth pregnancy so far, so if this is all that is wrong, then its not so bad.

I did ask the doctor if she had to make an estimated guess on how much little Jackson weighs right now, she said her guess would be roughly about 5 lbs. I said WHAT? Are you kidding? From this point on baby will gain an average of 1/2 a lb a week and I have 6 weeks left so that would put me at an 8 lb baby. I asked if baby and I needed to go on a diet. She said there is nothing that I have done wrong, that I have hardly gained any weight to begin with. That 8 lbs is almost average these days. I didnt think someone of my size could push an 8 lb baby out. Apparently it can happen. This just makes me more and more nervous about the day. Here is where I am at to date......

Dodgers Spring Training

Just thought I would share a few pictures from Dodgers Spring Training in Arizona at Camelback Ranch. If you know the Garza's, they are HUGE Dodger Fans. (Which doesnt make it easy for me being an Angel fan). Brent and Bob went on there own and well lets just say by the looks of the pictures, they were just in awww by the whole experience. Since we are Baseline Box Season ticket holders, they were treated like VIP the whole time.

32 Weeks Along

Today marks 32 weeks into my pregnancy – 7 months completed. Its getting down to the wire now. I cant even believe it – so excited yet so nervous. A few things have happened over the lasts few weeks– one is our awesome “friends shower” that Kellie & BriAnne threw for us. Thank you to all who attended. We have such great friends and got some great gifts for little man. Well I guess I should let you all know, instead of continuing to always call him little man, that we have decided on the name Jackson Alexander. Brent and I have always loved Jackson for a first name and Alexander is Bob (my father in law) and Brent’s middle name. So we thought the two names went quite well together. Plus I think Jack for short sounds just so cute. :)

So last week I had to take the 3 hour glucose test after I failed my 1 hour test to test for diabetes. Well needless to say I failed my 3 hour test as well. So they have diagnosed me with gestational diabetes. I will admit, I was EXTREMELY disappointed and have been really down on myself this last week. I mean hearing this after months of eating rather healthy and exercising consistently, I couldn’t understand what I was still doing wrong. But after going to the class today to talk about GD, I found that it was nothing that I did wrong. Its just my hormones and how my body is reacting to the pregnancy. I am feeling somewhat better about the whole thing now. The hardest part for me now is having to eat 3 full meals plus 3 snacks a day, plus having to test my blood sugar 4 times a day, which means having to prick my finger. OUCH!! :) Like Brent said, I only have roughly 8 more weeks left of it. Thank GOODNESS.

Below are some pictures from our “Babywood” shower. Thanx Mel for taking the pictures :)

I failed my 1 hour glucose test so now I have to go in for the 3 hour test tomorrow. BOO!! :( I am really starting to feel pregnant now. I hate complaining and should feel blessed being pregnant and have really enjoyed it. But the back aches, frequent trips to the bathroom, sleepless nights and extra weight are starting to take a toll on my body. And its only gonna get worse. But like I said, I should be blessed just being pregnant and having a VERY smooth pregnancy to this point.

"Babymoon"

We had an absolute FABULOUS time on our trip to Cancun last week. We went on an excursion to the Tulum ruins - here is a bit of info on Tulum and its background.

When the Spaniards arrived at the walled fortress of Tulum in 1518,
they considered it as large and beautiful as their beloved Seville. They may have been struck by its location, or the beautiful painted facades of its buildings. Tulum's name is more recent than its oldest structures, and translates, not surprisingly to "wall" from Mayan. The city's original name is believed to have been Zama or “place of the dawn,” in reference to its position by the sea looking eastward.

The approximate date of the city's construction is unclear. While it is believed to have been built around 300 BC, the majority of the buildings appear to date from between 1200 to 1500 AD, when the city was inhabited by the Mayans and gained its greatest importance.

Our $5.00 a piece ponchos that were litterally made out of trash bags...I told Brent pink is NOT his color. LOL.

After Tulum we went on our next excursion to a place called Xel-Ha (pronounced Shell Ha). Its basically a huge underwater sea aquarium, where they have a ton of activities such as snorkling, swimming with the dolphins, diving. It was rather rainy and cold out on this day so I chose not to get into a bathing suit to go snorkling. We just walked around the lagoon, ate and layed out.

Other then that, spent most of our time at the hotel just laying out on the beach reading and sleeping. What Brent and I love to do the most. We also ate alot of food. Heck it was buffet and it was all inclusive so why not? :)
